Application of this PTF may disable or render ineffective programs that
use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels.  This PTF may be a prerequisite
for future PTFs.  By applying this PTF you authorize and agree to the
foregoing.

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
On a system with a large number of object locks, interactive
jobs are spending large amounts of time waiting for machine
gates and using CPU in callstacks related to message handling,
specifically LIC procedure rmslmatproclocks and QMHVFYLT show in
the callstacks.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE65444 :
-----------------------------
QMHVFYLT materializes all process locks for the job which is a
very expensive operation on systems with a very large system
lock table. QMHVFYLT is looking for all message queues that are
locked by the job to determine if the message waiting light
should be turned off or if it needs to be kept on. This PTF will
cache the pointers to the job's workstation message queue and
user message queue to avoid having to materialize all process
locks in most cases.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE65444 :
--------------------------------
None.

Activation Instructions

None.

Special Instructions

This PTF can be applied immediate or delayed, however if the PTF is
applied immediate, the message waiting light may be incorrectly turned
off by the operating system in some cases for interactive jobs that
were already active when the PTF was applied. If the user logs off and
logs back on, the message waiting light will be displayed correctly. If
you want to avoid any inconsistency in the message waiting light
behavior, end and restart the subsystem(s) for interactive users after
applying the PTF.

Default Instructions

THIS PTF CAN BE APPLIED IMMEDIATE OR DELAYED.
