APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-------------------------------------------------
The customer is unable to print using the *IBMSNMPDRV system
driver program; the writer ends with message CPD401A.  The
printers support SNMP but the community name is not "public".

CORRECTION FOR APAR 'SE60375' :
-------------------------------
Support is being added to the QWPSNMPD driver program for
private SNMP community names.  See the PTF coverletter special
instructions for more details.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR 'SE60375' :
----------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR 'SE60298' :
-------------------------------------------------
A third-party application is generating *USERASCII spooled files
that are printed to a Zebra label printer using a *LAN 3812 SNMP
printer device description. These spooled files print
successfully, but occasionally the writer will fail with
MSGCPF33D6 "Buffer -1 not available" and MSGCPF3473 "Writer
&3/QSPLJOB/&1 did not end normally".

This started occurring after applying the C4197610 cumulative
PTF package, which includes 6.1 PTF SI52925. The cover letter
for PTF SI52925 states that the QSPGETSP API will now issue a
CPF33D6 exception if a closed spooled file contains no records.

CORRECTION FOR APAR 'SE60298' :
-------------------------------
The SNMP printer driver has been changed to not end the writer
if it gets a CPF33D6 exception when reading a spooled file.  The
spooled file will be held, and the writer will proceed to the
next available file.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR 'SE60298' :
----------------------------------
None.

Activation Instructions

None.

Special Instructions

If this PTF is applied or removed as a "Delayed" PTF, which requires
an IPL, no special consideration is necessary. If this PTF is
applied or removed "Immediate", you should first end all writers or
end the QSPL subsystem.

The SNMP system driver program will now attempt to connect with the
printer using each community in the system SNMP configuration file
until if finds one supported by the printer.  If unable to access the
printer community using any of these names, it will try once more using
"public".

To update the community names in the configuration file, use the
CFGTCPAPP APP(*SNMP) command and take option 2 "Work with communities
for SNMP", then option 1 to add your printer community name.  The
change will take effect the next time a writer is started.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI35957 :
=================================================

To enable much better performance when printing page ranges of very
large DEVTYPE(*AFPDS) spooled files to network printers using
SYSDRVPGM(*IBMPJLDRV) or *HPPJLDRV or *IBMSNMPDRV, add
USRDFNOPT(*IBMNOMNT) to the printer device description.  The option
will take effect next time a writer is started to the printer.

With this option, you will lose the ability to print duplex or select
the printer output bin when starting an *AFPDS spooled file on a page
other than 1 (see APAR SE10006) so a good way to implement this change
is to create a copy of your existing printer device description, so two
device descriptions reference ths same network printer, and only set
the new *IBMNOMNT option on one of the devices.

Default Instructions

THIS PTF CAN BE APPLIED IMMEDIATE OR DELAYED.
