Abstract

IPL-UNPRED MEMORY SEGMENT DOES NOT GET FLUSHED TO DISK DURING
PTF ACTIVITY WHICH MAY CAUSE CORRUPTION ON ABNORMAL SHUTDOWN

Error Description

Memory segment does not get flushed to disk during PTF activity
which may cause corruption in LIC on abnormal shutdown          

Problem Summary

* PROBLEM: (MA45738) Licensed Program = 5770999 for i 7.2 and  *
*                                       i 7.3                  *
*           Crash/Hang Requiring an IPL to Recover             *
****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users.            *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: Apply LIC PTF MF62298 for i 7.2.             *
*                 Apply LIC PTF MF62306 for i 7.3.             *

Memory storage address range FFFFFFFF3E000000 thru              
FFFFFFFF3EFFFFFF does not get flushed to disk during PTF        
activity which may cause corruption in LIC on abnormal shutdown.
 The address range FFFFFFFF3E000000 thru  FFFFFFFF3EFFFFFF may  
not be used on all user systems until a later date because this
range is one of three possible address ranges that are used.   A
subset of users are affected by this problem.                  

Problem Conclusion

The address range for FFFFFFFF3Exxxxxx is changed to            
FFFFFFFF3Dxxxxxx.
