Abstract

OSP-COMM-ELAN-PERFM 268C VIRTUAL ETHERNET TRUNCATES OUTGOING
QOS FRAMES

Error Description

TCP communications, using Virtual Ethernet(268C) has            
performance problems, when                                      
configured with Large Send Offload with jumbo frames(max frame  
size=8996), while configured to use Quality of Service( QoS ).

TCP communications, using Virtual Ethernet(268C) has performance
problems, when                                                  
configured with Large Send Offload with jumbo frames(max frame  
size=8996), while configured to use Quality of Service( QoS ).  
                                                               
Specifically, if QoS is enabled, outgoing frames greater than  
2048 bytes may be truncated if sent through a 268C virtual      
Ethernet resource.  There are no error statistics recorded when
this truncation occurs, so the easiest way to observe this      
behavior is by doing a communications trace of some kind in the
receiver, possibly coupled with a TCP/IP LIC trace on the      
sender.                                                        

Problem Conclusion

Licensed internal code has been changed to ensure that Quality  
of Service (QoS) does not cause 268C virtual Ethernet resources
to truncate outgoing frames.
