Abstract

LIC-OTHER-UNPRED ENHANCEMENT TO ALLOW CLEAN *DETACH OF
GEOMIRROR IN I HOSTING I ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT QUIESCE.

Error Description

Currently by design, users of Geographic Mirroring within an i
hosting i environment, if a *DETACH operation is performed
while the Production system is fully operational and there are
no steps being made to bring the system to a "quiet" state as
well as no steps being made to quiesce the host prior to the
*DETACH, there is a greater risk for encountering damage on the
mirror side client at activation time and it becomes more
obvious at full system save time.

There will be a change made so that when a *DETACH to GeoMirror
is made in the manner as described above, the risk of damage
will be minimized.

Suggested work around:
ENDSBS *ALL *IMMED or Power down the partition on the source
client, then use CHGASPACT *SUSPEND on the source HOST prior to
the *DETACH operation.

Problem Conclusion

Detach will wait for in-progress client partition writes to be
sent to the target host before completing.
