Problem
IBM Installation Manager does not support special characters in the installation path. The following special characters are not supported: ` ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) | \/ ? > < , { } [ ]
Symptom
If an exclamation point, !, is used in the installation path, Installation Manager crashes when starting.
Resolving The Problem
Do not use the following special characters in the IBM Installation Manager installation directory path:

| > | greater than symbol |
| < | less than symbol |
| , | comma |
| { | opening brace |
| } | closing brace |
| [ | opening bracket |
| ] | closing bracket |
*The opening parenthesis can be used on Windows when there is a preceding space. In some cases, () might appear in the default install directory when installing a 32-bit offering on Windows 64-bit machine.
