Can I add the Model Manager / Architecture Management plugin to an existing installation of EWM / CCM 7.0?

Question & Answer

Question

Can an existing installation of IBM Enterprise Workflow Management 7.0 (formerly CCM) have the Model Manager / Architecture Management capability added to it?

Answer

With the implementation of the ""Integrated Server" for Architecture Management (also known as Rhapsody Model Manager) in the 7.0 release, Architecture Management is no longer a separate application. Instead, it is an add-on for the Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) application, formerly known as Rational Team Concert or RTC, that can be installed via the Installation Manager from the ELM repository.
When you migrate an existing Architecture Management install to 7.0, the interactive upgrade guide advises you to install EWM with the Model Manager add-on at the same time.
If you are performing a new installation of EWM 7.0, or are migrating an existing EWM installation to 7.0, consider adding the Model Manager capability during the installation of EWM 7.0 in the Installation Manager.
However, if you want to add the Model Manager functionality to an existing EMW 7.0 installation, follow these steps:
1) Shut down EWM.
2) Launch the Installation Manager on the server hosting the EWM application.
3) Select the installation option.
4) Check the "IBM Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody - Model Manager" option.
5) Click Next and complete the installation.
6) Open a command prompt.
7) Navigate to the <YourJTSInstallPath> / server directory.
8) Run repotools-ccm -addTables. The execution of the addTables script can take several minutes.
9) Enter Y at the prompt to continue.
9) Wait for addTables to complete.
10) Start EWM.
If you do not run the add-tables scripts after you install the Model Manager add-on, the Architecture Management functionality of the EWM project area will not work correctly. It reports the following in the Architecture Management > Settings section of the EWM project area administration page:
The content of this page has been disabled because the Architecture Management extension has not been properly installed.
Please contact your system administrator to see more details on the application Diagnostics page.
The following error also appears under Diagnostics > Architecture Management Database Components Status on the EWM application administration page:
Detected issues:
The Architecture Management component com.ibm.team.rmm.rhpmodel has not been installed in the database.
The Architecture Management component com.ibm.team.rmm.rhpmodelcommon has not been installed in the database.
Please stop the server and run the -addTables repotools command.
In order to avoid these issues, ensure steps 1 - 10 are followed.
