Question & Answer
Question
How can you roll back a firmware update on a Proventia Network Security Controller appliance?
Answer
To revert the PNSC appliance to a previous firmware, you can apply the older firmware version through the web interface:
- Log into the appliance web interface as admin.
- Go to Advanced > Firmware Update.
- Browse to the appropriate firmware .gz file.
Note: Be sure to select the correct file for the firmware update. The file should be a .gz format file. For example, the filename for the 1768 FW version is:20110121_Proventia_Network_Security_Controller_FW1768.gz
Do not select the wrong file, as there is no sanity checking for the install and it can corrupt the software on the appliance. If you are not sure or have questions, please contact IBM Security Systems technical support for assistance.
- Select Upload Firmware and click Agree to perform the install.
- When the box reboots, it should display the version number.
