Report Design Component installation fails because it could not update the notes.ini file

Troubleshooting


Problem

The installation of the Crystal Reports Report Design Component (RDC) fails with the error "Could not update the ini file" if IBM Lotus Notes is installed on the same machine.

Symptom

During the installation of the RDC, this error message occurs:

Could not update the ini file C:\Program Files\Notes\notes.ini. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

The path displayed in the error message might differ. However, it generally points to the location where IBM Lotus Notes is installed.
