Problem

This technote describes a possible cause of an error message that can be genereted after importing a license key for Rational products and after running lmstat.

Symptom

You get the following error:
lmstat - Copyright (c) 1989-2007 Macrovision Europe Ltd. and/or Macrovision

Corporation. All Rights Reserved.

Flexible License Manager status on Tue 12/1/2009 16:00

Error getting status: Cannot connect to license server system. (-15,570:150

"Operation now in progress")

Cause

This could happen if you are have generated a license key for a UNIX operating system using the disk_serial_num format which is valid only for Windows Operating System as shown below:

Resolving The Problem

For a Linux or UNIX o/s, use the Ethernet Address for the HostID.
