Abstract

OSP-COMM-OTHER-INCORROUT QTOGINTD INETD SERVER BECOMES
UNRESPONSIVE. CLUSTER NODE FAILS TO START WITH CPFBB05 RC1

Error Description

Remote cluster node fails to start with msgCPFBB05 RC1. When
checking that remote cluster node, we found that that the
QTOGINTD server was running on that system, and also through
communication traces we could determine that the requests were
making it to the remote cluster node. Found that the QTOGINTD
job's call stack was sitting in the ACCEPT procedure. For this
job to do an accept() on an incoming connection, it must be
sitting in the SELECT procedure.

This issue seemed to be caused by a port scanner running in the
customer's environment that would attempt to open a connection
to port 37 with a SYN, a SYN ACK would be sent back by the IBM
i, and the port scanner device would respond with a RESET of
that connection. The QTOGINTD server should be able to handle
this situation
