When you click Roll Back in IBM® Installation Manager (IM) for a Rational® team product such as Rational® ClearCase® or Rational® ClearQuest®, Installation Manager indicates that no packages are available for rollback even though you have a previous version of the IBM® Rational® Team product installed.
IBM® Rational® has disabled the functionality of rollback for certain versions of Rational® team products to avoid product corruption. A rollback is supported from a later fix pack to an earlier fix pack of the same release, but is not allowed otherwise.
This behavior is intentional and is not a product installation failure. In general, a rollback is only supported from a newer fix pack to an older fix pack.
Table 1 lists the upgrade paths that do not support rollback. If you have upgraded to any of the versions listed, you can restore only an earlier version such as 7.1.0.x by removing the current version (7.1.2.x, for example), and then installing the earlier version again.
