Abstract
On systems with 8.3.0-8.4.1 software, 32 Gb FC ports will auto-negotiate to 8Gb, if they are connected to a 16 Gb Cisco switch port.
To prevent this issue, manually set the switch port as an F-port operating at 16 Gb, instead of using auto-negotiate. No other FC adapter or switch vendor is affected by this issue.
The fix for this issue is in 8.4.2 and later software.

A Fibre Channel adapter firmware issue (APAR HU02127) prevents 32Gb FC ports from successfully auto-negotiating the correct speed with 16 Gb Cisco switch ports.
Note that two individual settings are required to allow the port to come up at 16Gb; setting only the speed is not sufficient.
- Manually configure the port as an F-port, AND
- Manually configure the port speed to 16Gb
This issue is resolved in 8.4.2 and later software.
