Problem
IBM Rational Manual Tester does not open the authoring screen when you start the product. Instead it throws an exception. This technote proposes the first steps to resolve the problem.
Symptom
You get a similar error screen.

Resolving The Problem
The first steps to resolve the problem are the following actions.
- Start Rational Manual Tester in a new workspace.
- Start Rational Manual Tester with the -clean option.
Starting Rational Manual Tester in a new workspace
- First rename the existing Rational Manual Tester workspace folder.
The location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\IBM\RMT7.0
- Next, restart Rational Manual Tester. Rational Manual Tester creates the new workspace folder.
Starting Rational Manual Tester with the -clean option
Edit the Rational Manual Tester shortcut from the Windows Start menu.
- Highlight the Rational Manual Tester icon in the Start menu.
- Right click to the Properties screen for this shortcut.
- Add '-clean' in the Target field.
Now the command reads, for example.
C:\Program Files\IBM\RMT70\rtmt.exe -clean
