  • Upgrading to 4.1 from 4.0

The toolkit tolerates version differences between the production and controlling LPAR's. However, new features will not be enabled on the LPARs which are downlevel.

All the controllers and source LPARs in the cluster must be at the same version (i.e. 4.1). We strongly recommend that they also all be at the same build date. The version and build date is stored in data area QZRDHASM/BUILD.

On the controller, follow these steps:

Ensure the cluster information is in a consistent state:
    - WRKCLU
    - Optin 6

    ENDSBS QZRDFSR *IMMED
    - OK if no subsystem running

    1. Obtain the savefile from a Lab Services consultant.
    2. Ensure there isn't a switch in progress.
    3. Restore library QZRDHASM from the savefile:
      - RSTLIB SAVLIB(QZRDHASM) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/PHATOOLS41) MBROPT(*ALL) ALWOBJDIF(*ALL) OMITOBJ((*ALL *DTAQ))

    4. Run the installation program on each controller:
      - ADDLIBLE QZRDHASM
      - SETUPFSR NODE(*CTL)

    5. Run the installation program on each production LPAR:
      - ADDLIBLE QZRDHASM
      - SETUPFSR NODE(*PRD)

After these steps have been performed, it is recommended that CHKCSE be performed for each environment.
