How to determine whether you are the PNODE or SNODE when running Connect:Direct for i5/OS

Question & Answer

Question

It is often necessary to know which side is the PNODE and which is the SNODE when you are using Connect:Direct. The PNODE submits a process to initiate a communications session with a remote SNODE. PNODE and SNODE do not indicate the direction of the file copy, since a PNODE can submit a process to either send or receive a file.
