Abstract

How to use ICC to create a task route to archive file system documents with metadata and multiple content elements into P8 repository?

Body

IBM Content Collector does not provide a standrad task route template for archiving file system documents with metadata and multiple content elements. A Technote has been published that explains the steps required for this requirement to be met using a custom task route.

Use the following example as a reference. The following 3 files are to be stored into P8 in one object with 3 content elements:

C:\Temp\file source\file1.txt
C:\Temp\file source\file2.txt
C:\Temp\file source\file3.txt

1. Create a XML metadata file similar to the following:

<xml>
  <transact>
<filename>C:\Temp\file source\file1.txt</filename>
<filename>C:\Temp\file source\file2.txt</filename>
<filename>C:\Temp\file source\file3.txt</filename>
 </transact>
 <firstproperty>some_label</firstproperty>
 <secondproperty>some_other_property</secondproperty>
</xml>

2. The task route requires two FSC Associate Metadata tasks.

3. Configure the following for the first FSC Associate Metadata task:
In the Document Name tab, for Base the name of the document, select Values in the metadata file. In the drop down list for Property containing document file names, select any one of your metadata properties. The value selected here is not important.
Select the check boxes Group documents by metadata file and Documents are contentless.
In the Metadata Mapping tab, provide mapping for only your customer custom properties. Do not select the property that provides the actual file path to the document.

4. Configure the following for the second FSC Associate Metadata task:
In the Document Name tab, for Base the name of the document, select Values in the metadata file. In the drop down list for Property containing document file names, select the property that contains the actual file path to the document.
Select the check box Group documents by metadata file.
Do not select the check box Documents are contentless.
In the Metadata Mapping tab, provide mapping for only the property that contains the actual file path to the document.

5. In the P8 Create Document task, select Defer checkin. Provide all property mappings between the P8 properties and your user defined metadata.
