Abstract

Stale data may be read by a host on SafeGuarded Recovery Volume(s) which had been subsequently updated by the host after the initial copy.

Content

A read of stale data may occur on the recovery volume if it has been updated by host writes. Data on the original SafeGuarded Capacity is still valid and uncompromised.  Only the subsequent updates after creation of the recovery volume(s) are affected. 
Depending on the host activity, the incorrect data may or may not be detected.   

Exposure:
SafeGuarded Copy Support on R8.5 levels below  88.54.37.0  and R9.0  89.0.214.0  or earlier.
Note: 
Updating code does not resolve the problem with existing SafeGuarded Recovery Volumes.  Must complete the actions listed below. 

Fix:

  1. You must terminate All SafeGuarded Recovery relationships  
  2. Install the code bundle that contains the fix. 
  3. Recreate SGC recovery volume(s).
  4. You may now proceed to use the recovery volume(s).
