BiLog: If only I had Known....OEE Report


When was the last time you had something stuck on your face, or in your teeth – and nobody told you about it?   After overcoming the embarrassement (woman) or insisting it was part of your fashion statement (man) – thoughts of ‘if I had only known’ may fly thru your mind.

You may also have those same ‘if I had only known’ thoughts about the OEE, or Overall Equipment Effectiveness Report, delivered with Maximo.    OEE is a metric often used in Manufacturing Industries.  OEE is calculated by multiplying three components together, Equipment Availability, Performance Efficiency and Quality Rate.   Industry Goals for OEE vary – but the higher the figure, the better the organization’s performance.

The calculations for each of these three components is shown below
    Equipment Availability = All Downtime/ Scheduled Time
    Performance Efficiency = Actual Units Produced/Units Scheduled
    Quality Rate = (Units Produced – Units Defective)/Units Produced

However, the Maximo applications do not calculate or hold information on production quantities including units produced, scheduled and defective.  Therefore, we have created a database object, KPIOEE, to hold this information for you.   You could input data in this table thru a script or thru the Integration Framework.
To highlight how this report can be used, demo data has been created for three sites:  Bedford, Laredo and Texas.   Within these sites, over 30 assets, 70 part numbers and 27 months of production data were produced to highlight the drilldown capability of these reports.   Starting at the top level of OEE by Site, the user can drilldown into the OEE by Location and then OEE by Asset reports.   Additionally, the user can view data for the OEE metric, or by selecting any one of the 3 components – availability, perfomance or quality.

The OEE report may also be of interest to your Report Developer as it is a very complex report, and highlights a number of key functionality features.    For example, this report uses the hidden parameters – paramstring and paramdelimiter.
