Creating a report - How many Secrets are in my Secret Server?

How To

Summary

There are a few ways you can go about getting an accurate count of the number of Secrets that are in your instance of Secret Server.

First, let's clarify what is implied when we say "Active" and "Inactive" Secrets:

Active Secrets are enabled and will show up when a user searches for Secrets using the default search settings on the home page.
Inactive Secrets are disabled, or "deleted," Secrets. When you click Delete on a Secret, it is only soft-deleted and is saved as an inactive Secret. The Secret can be referenced later to view audit history or can be re-enabled by a user who has permissions not only to the Secret but also to view deleted Secrets.
