Starting the InfoSphere Data Replication Dashboard from Tivoli Enterprise Portal

General Page

GDPS/Active-Active users who monitor replication statistics with Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) can view more detailed performance and health information by starting the InfoSphere Data Replication Dashboard from within TEP. Here are the steps to start the dashboard.

GDPS/Active-Active users who monitor replication statistics with Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) can view more detailed performance and health information by starting the InfoSphere Data Replication Dashboard from within TEP.

To start the dashboard from TEP, you create a launch definition that includes the URL of an installed dashboard.

You can create a launch definition from the main Replication workspace, or from the detailed DB2 Replication Workspace. This procedure uses the detailed workspace so that you can use optional parameters to specify the dashboard monitoring group or workload that you would like to view when the dashboard starts.

Procedure

1. In the TEP Navigator, open the Active/Actives Sites folder, open the NetView agent, and click Replication Servers.

2. Right-click a row in the Replication Servers Summary and click Link to > DB2 Replication Details.

3. In the detailed DB2 Replication Workspace, right-click a row in one of the details tables and click Launch.

4. In the Create or Edit Launch Definitions window, click Create New.

5. In the Arguments field, enter the URL of an installed Q Replication Dashboard.

Specifying optional parameters

You can specify one of the following parameters with the dashboard URL to customize your launch definition:

groupName

The name of the monitoring group that you would like to see when the dashboard opens. If the group does not exist, the dashboard opens with the Add Server dialog within the Create Group wizard.

workload

The name of the workload. In Q replication this is equivalent to the name of a replication queue map, which includes the send queue-receive queue pair that is used to convey data between a source and target.

To specify parameters after the dashboard URL:

  • Add a question mark (?) followed by the first parameter.
  • Follow each parameter with an equal sign (=) and then the parameter value.
  • Prefix each additional parameter with a forward slash and ampersand (/&).

Parameter values cannot contain spaces.

The following example specifies that the dashboard should open to myGroup and to the send-receive queue pair in the workload CICS_WORKLOAD_1:

http://ibm.com:9090/rdweb/login/login.html?groupName=myGroup/&workload=CICS_WORKLOAD_1

After you create the launch definition the URL and parameters will be filled in each time you click Launch from the replication workspace.

You can also enter placeholders for the parameter values, and will then be prompted for the values each time you click Launch.

To enter placeholders, start each parameter with a hat character (^) and separate parameters with a comma (,). For example:

http://chloride.dyn.webahead.ibm.com:9090/rdweb/login/login.html?^groupName=,/&^workload=

Select Edit arguments before execution, and then in the Launch dialog click Evaluate. In the Edit Launch Definition Argument window, enter the parameter values.

After you click OK in the n the Edit Launch Definition Argument window, the dashboard login screen opens. Enter a user ID and password. If this is the first time you are opening a monitoring group, a wizard opens to step you through definition of the group.

For more detail on creating a monitoring group and using the dashboard, see the Q Replication Dashboard tutorial.

Filter Queues Dialog

If you specify the workload parameter and the dashboard opens with some queue pairs filtered out, the Filter Queues button in the Summary view will include a green check mark:

You can add the queue pairs back to the Summary view by clicking the Filter Queues button. The filter dialog opens, showing all queue pairs for all configurations in the group. At least one queue pair must be selected per data direction.

When queues are filtered in or out, the result is reflected only in the summary table. No change will be seen in the graphs on the Summary tab.
