IBM APM 8.1 - RT agent configuration - rt_silent_config.txt content tips
While using IBM Application Performance Management version 8.1.4, and attempting to reconfigure the Response Time agent (product code t5) on Windows, using rt-agent.bat script and a silent_config parameters file, such configuration may fail, if the content stored in rt_silent_config.txt file is incorrect. For example, some values for parameter in silent_config file may be case sensitive.
See example below...
1) example of 'wrong' rt_silent_config.txt file
this above is incorrect, right syntax is :
2) Execution results of "rt-agent.bat config <path to silent file>" , when using something incorrectly set into rt_silent_config.txt file:
it reports : "KCICF9026E: the agent configuration failed"
3) rt-agent.bat execution result is a failure, and it gives an indication of a particular log file to review, like C:\IBM\APM\InstallITM\APM-KinConfg_<date>.log
here is such log details:
4) and another log file to be reviewed is indicated as well as seen above, e.g. C:\IBM\APM\logs\xmlconfig_ras*.log
As seen above, this last log file xmlconfig_ras*.log gives clear indication on what is possibly wrong in rt_silent_config.txt file;
correct your rt_silent_config.txt file, and run again rt-agent.bat to reconfigure your RT agent.
