Summary
The IBM Food Trust™ Fresh Insights module enables member Organizations to monitor the freshness of their food products and to share freshness data with their authorized supply chain partners. The Freshness API is also available for developers to use REST API calls to manage freshness data.
Objective
Steps
To add the Fresh Insights module to your IBM Food Trust subscription, log in to IBM Marketplace. You must be an Account Owner for your Organization to change your IBM Food Trust subscription.
How it Works
The Fresh Insights module enables your Organization to view, share, and take action on freshness data for food supply chain products. Integrated supply chain data—data shared by two or more organizations—is available when information referencing the same product instance has been uploaded by authorized organizations. IBM Food Trust supply chain partners are therefore enabled to view freshness data for the same specific product instance, if access has been authorized by the organization that uploaded (owns) the data.
Fresh Insights examples include identifying at risk products, viewing current inventory, viewing at risk products by facility and facility type, and viewing freshness data such as dwell time, average time to expiration, and inventory flow:
- Authorized users add their Organization's products to Fresh Insights by registered GS1 or IBM Food Trust identifier, such as Product ID, Lot Number, Pallet Number, or Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC).
- Freshness results can be narrowed by specifying additional parameters, including date and time range, facility, or facility type.
- Each organization owns its data and maintains control over which organizations can view its data by choosing a Data Access Control policy and setting a Data Entitlement Mode when uploading data to IBM Food Trust.
