Support for Docker containers with IBM Informix

Question & Answer

Question

Is IBM Informix supported in a Docker container environment?

Answer

  • The usage of Informix in a containerized environment or a virtual environment is fully supported as long as the guest Operating System inside the container or Virtual Machine meets the minimum system requirements of Informix.
  • If a user is running an IBM Informix edition (ex., Enterprise, Workgroup, etc.) in a containerized or virtualized environment and are current on IBM Software Subscription and Support, they can open support tickets through IBM for any issues pertaining to the Informix product.
  • IBM Informix Developer Edition is a free edition for educational and non-production purposes. The user can get support through the community. Users are not entitled to open support tickets through IBM.
  • IBM Informix Developer Edition Docker image is made available on docker hub for convenience and ease of use. The docker files used to build the docker image and scripts used for the customized setup and configuration are open sourced, and available to the users under Apache 2.0 license. The Docker files and associated scripts are maintained by the Informix community, not entitled for support through IBM, and may change frequently as new options are added.
