How to fully uninstall the Windows S-TAP v9.5 in silent mode from the command line using the Setup.exe?

How To

Summary

One of the most important Guardium modules is the lightweight Software TAP Agent (S-TAP) that helps to implement the DAM (Database Activity Monitoring) technologies the solution provides.

As a part of its constant evolution, there are some situations where it is necessary to uninstall the S-TAP on Windows Servers, either because customers choose to perform a clean installation of a newer version, or because the DB server monitored are being decommissioned, just to mention a few.

There are two main ways to deploy an S-TAP agent over a Windows operating system, you can use the native Windows installer or, for easiness of the deployment, you can manage the S-TAP software using the Guardium Installation Manager (GIM). See the RELATED URL section at the bottom of this page to know more about the S-TAP installation methods and the GIM GUI respectively.

The same two methods exist for uninstall/removal of the S-TAP agent. In this technical note, you will see a step-by-step example on how to fully remove the S-TAP software that was installed using the native installer (NOT GIM) on a Windows Server host, specifically using the silent mode (non interactive) from the Windows command line interface.
