Troubleshooting
Problem
After a flash module is erased using the CLI command chdrive -task erase, if the drive is formatted using chdrive -task format, or using mkarray, the drive may fail.
Symptom
After the drive is erased, and after the attempt is made to format the drive, the drive fails. The Event Log shows a a 1680 alert, "Drive fault type 1" with the Event ID 085021.
Cause
After a flash module is erased, it must be reset in order to be used.
Diagnosing The Problem
The audit log will show that the drive is erased, then an attempt is made to format the drive using chdrive or mkarray. The Event Log will show alert 1680 with Event ID 085021
Resolving The Problem
The drive must be re-seated before formatting. Re-seat the flash module.
ATTENTION: Be sure to re-seat the correct flash module. Use "lsdrive" to determine the physical slot number of the failed drive.
