Under a high user load, a General Protection Fault results in a crash on WebSphere Application Server 6.1 Fix Pack 15

Troubleshooting

Problem

If Rational® Asset Manager is running with a high user load on WebSphere® Application Server V6.1 Fix Pack 15, the server might crash and produce a javacore file that indicates a General Protection Fault (GPF).

Symptom

WebSphere Application Server or Rational Asset Manager crashes and a javacore file indicates that a General Protection Fault (GPF) is found on the server. The server typically runs a high user load for several hours before it crashes.

Through testing, a high user load was defined as 200 users on a server with a 1600MB Java Virtual Machine (JVM) heap.
