Node Replication and Expiration (on the replication target)

Question & Answer

Question

When Expire Inventory runs on the replication target, why is the old/expired data for a replicated node not being deleted?

Cause

At this time the expiration process will skip the replica node (on the target server).

Answer

In a node replication environment, the expiration of the data is controlled by the replication source server. When data is expired on the source server, the next time that replication runs, this will sync with the target server. For those objects that have been expired and were removed from the source server, the data will be deleted from the target server by replication processing not expiration processing on the target server.

This is also noted in the manual for the REPLICATE NODE processing:
Files that are no longer stored on the source replication server, but that exist on the target replication server, are deleted during this process.
