Problem
When opening Cognos Cube Designer and selecting to create a new project by importing metadata you get an "Error: no protocol" message, or when opening Cube Designer a blank screen/window appears.
Symptom
"Error: no protocol" message appears when trying to import metadata. After clicking OK the user still cannot proceed to import any metadata. In later versions, a blank screen/window appears when you launch Cube Designer and you cannot proceed.
