No Keyboard/Video/Mouse (KVM) function with a cascaded configuration - NetBAY Local and Remote Console Manager

Symptom

Cascaded configurations of either NetBay Local Console Managers or Remote Console Managers have no keyboard, video, or mouse (KVM) functionality

Affected configurations

The system is configured with one (1) or more of the following Rack/Storage Enclosures:

  • a NetBay Local Console Manager, type 1735, model L04
  • a NetBay Remote Console Manager type 1735, model R16
Solution

Ensure the cascading configuration is valid.

Valid cascading configurations

Review the following examples of valid cascading configurations.

Note: A NetBay-1x4 Console Switch can not be the primary device to a NetBay- 2x8 Console Switch, nor a NetBay Local or Remote Console Manager. A NetBay-2x8 Console Switch can not be the primary device to a NetBay Local or Remote Console Manager.

Attention: Ensure all KVM switches have the latest firmware code applied before cascading any of the above KVM switches.

Additional information

The NetBay Local or Remote Console Manager can be used in a cascaded configuration, but only as the primary device. The NetBay Local or Remote Console Manager can not be cascaded as a secondary device, because the Console Manager's local port does not have the necessary cascade code. Similarly, a NetBay Local or Remote Console Manager can not be cascaded from another NetBay Local or Remote Console Manager

Only the NetBay-1x4 Console Switch and the NetBay-2x8 Console Switch can be cascaded from the NetBay Local or Remote Console Manager
