Resolving The Problem

This sequence leads to the problem in IBM® Rational® TeamTest and other Rational testing tool products:

1. Install SQL Anywhere Database Server to the path "D:\rational" on Microsoft® Windows® 2000 SP2.
2. Once installation is finished, launch Sybase Central and create a new service, name the service Newsql.
3. Click Next three times to accept the defaults.
4. Type the following commands in the parameters window (where for this example the server name is "jhsql"):
   -x tcpip
   -n jhsql
   -gd all
5. Click Next three times and select the checkbox to start the service immediately. This message appears:
   ”A database server with that name has already started.”
6. Click Finish and note that the service cannot start.

There is no such issue if SQL Anywhere is installed to the default path of
C:\program files\rational.

1. In Sybase Central, use the right mouse button to click on the service name and choose “Properties”
2. Click the Configuration tab and change the server name specified using the “-n” parameter to a different name
3. Click "Apply" and "OK" to change the close the dialog.
4. Right-click on the service name and select “Start” to start the service
