Problem
Some firewalls are configured by default to block network ports which are used by the MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM) to connect to clients. These must be enabled or the result will be a failure to connect to the client. Please refer to MegaRAID documentation for more information on TCP/IP port settings.

Issue
Some firewalls are configured by default to block network ports which are used by the MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM) to connect to clients.
These must be enabled or the result will be a failure to connect to the client.
Please refer to MegaRAID documentation for more information on TCP/IP port settings.
Affected configurations
This tip is not hardware specific.
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- ServeRAID-MR10M SAS/SATA Controller, option 43W4339
- ServeRAID-MR10i SAS/SATA Controller, option 43W4296
- ServeRAID-MR10k SAS/SATA Controller, option 43W4280
The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- MegaRAID Storage Manager, any version
Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Solution
If there are connectivity issues with MSM, the user should check their operating system firewall settings to assure the operating system firewall is not preventing the connection of the MSM server to the MSM client.
Additional information
Some operating system firewalls will prevent MSM server from connecting to the client. The user should adjust their firewall settings to allow connectivity.
