MySQL service failed to run

Troubleshooting

Problem

Username and password not recognized by MySQL DB, tried to shutdown MySQL service which failed to start again. The log file shows "Cannot connect with DB. Connection refused. [2016-04-28 12:06:18.270 CDT ERROR com.platform.gui.pac.jobnotification.db.JobNotificationDataManage.selectJobNotificationData(JobNotificationDataManage.java:168)] java.lang.NullPointerException" [asameem@asameem-2 pac915]$ service mysqld start chown: invalid user: `mysql:mysql' chown: invalid user: `mysql:mysql' MySQL Daemon failed to start. Starting mysqld: [FAILED] All services are running fine: [asameem@asameem-2 pac915]$ perfadmin list SERVICE STATUS WSM_PID HOST_NAME jobdt STARTED 24739 asameem-2 plc STARTED 24779 asameem-2 purger STARTED 24834 asameem-2 [asameem@asameem-2 pac915]$ pmcadmin list SERVICE STATUS PID PORT HOST_NAME WEBGUI STARTED 25477 8443 asameem-2
