Resolving The Problem

System Performance Issues: Gathering Collection Services performance data using QMGTOOLS.

The MustGather tools library (QMGTOOLS) contains programs to assist in collecting general information about the IBM i from a command line interface.

1. If the QMGTOOLS toolkit library has not yet been installed, you should refer to the following document for information on how to download and install the QMGTOOLS toolkit on your IBM i server. The following URL is contains additional information.

2. Sign on with QSECOFR or an equivalent user profile and add QMGTOOLS to the your library list
(ADDLIBLE QMGTOOLS) and then type GO MG.

3. Select menu option 3, Performance/Misc collection then option 3 for Collection Services.

4. In the Collection Services menu option 1 can be used to check the current status. If Collection
Services is not active it can be started with menu option 3.

5. To copy the Collection Services performance data use this command or option 2:
QMGTOOLS/QCSICMD FUNCTION(*COPY) DATALIB(TSXXXXXXX) SAVE(Y)
- TSXXXXXXX - replace the seven Xs with the last seven digits of your case number.
- After you hit enter you can then select one or multiple members to copy.
- Hit enter again to confirm the 'copy from' and 'copy to' information.

6. The above command copies the data to the specified library and saves the library to a save file,
IBMDATA001. Use this document to FTP the data to IBM.
