Moving a RequisitePro project from one database server to another

Troubleshooting

Problem

This technote describes the procedure to move a IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® project from test environment such as Microsoft® Access to an enterprise database solution such as Microsoft SQL server, Oracle and IBM DB2®. This technote can also be used to move a RequisitePro project from one enterprise solution to another using the Data Transport Wizard.

Resolving The Problem

Data Transport Wizard

The Data Transport Wizard, rqdatatransportwiz.exe, which is located in the <Installation Drive>\Rational\RequisitePro\bin can be used to move a project from one database vendor (Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle or DB2) to another or to the same database vendor (Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle or DB2).

Note: The wizard moves one project at a time.

Prerequisites

The Data Transport Wizard requires that the following conditions be met before you attempt to move a project between databases or database vendors.
Note: The wizard displays messages to alert you if any conditions are not met.

  • The project must be saved in the current version of RequisitePro.
  • You must have administrator permission's for the project.
  • You must have log on and write permission's for the target database.
  • Your database administrator must supply you with the user name and password, a server name, and a schema name so that you can access an enterprise database.

Important Considerations

  • Make sure all RequisitePro users have closed the project before you continue.
  • It is strongly recommend that you archive your project before you move it to another database.
File > Project Administration > Archive > RequisitePro Archive.

Procedure for using the Data Transport Wizard to move a Project to an Enterprise Databases vendor

  1. Configure a new, destination RequisitePro database (Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle or DB2), using one of the following guidelines:
