Moving Files With SFTP To Library System

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document provides information about placing a file in the library system with SFTP.

Resolving The Problem

At some point, you may need to place a file in the library system with SFTP. There is no convenient subcommand like NAMEFMT with normal FTP. The following information (with print screens) help you work around this limitation. Alternatives include using applications like Filezilla and others found on the www.OpenSSH.org Web site.

Note: There is no way to move an entire file with members. SFTP is locked in name format 1 for the Integrated File System.

To work around this limitation, do the following:

1Create the physical file.
2Use the put command to move the members over. If you only have one member per file, you will have a lot of directory changes to get them from one system to the other; however, it is possible.

Transferring files with SFTP from MAC device into the QSYS.LIB filesystem.
Notes:
1If the object you are attempting to use is not owned by your user ID, use the WRKOBJ command to edit the authority of the object.
2You must have *RWX authority to /QSYS.LIB/. To verify, on the operating system command line type the following:

WRKLNK '/QSYS.LIB/'

Press the Enter key. Select Option 9 next to the path and press the Enter key.

Using Option 9 on the WRKLNK command to display authorities of the QSYS.LIB filesystem.

Authorities of the QSYS.LIB filesystem.
