Question & Answer

Question

Movement Types

Answer

Movement Types

When you define a contract section you can select thefollowing movement types:

Outbound

You are shipping loads to a customer.

Inbound

A supplier is delivering loads to your organization.

Interplant

Loads are being transferred between two facilities that areowned by your organization.

Inbound Outbound Interplant

A load can be inbound outbound or an interplant transfer.

Continuous Move

The load is eligible for a continuous move discount.

Round Trip

The load is eligible for a round trip discount.

The Movement Type field givesyou flexibility over how you define your contracts with your carriers. For example you could define different contract sections for outboundand interplant shipments. You could then apply different rates toeach section.

When you create a shipment you specify the movementtype as Inbound Outboundor Interplant. You do not set the movementtype to Continuous Move or RoundTrip.
