Resolving The Problem

RETAIN tip: H192218
Symptom
This defect refers to the Remote Supervisor Adapter (RSA) II Remote Control function. When connected remotely, the mouse does not work in applications that use absolute coordinates.
This issue has been seen on the PC-Doctor and LSI WebBIOS.
Affected configurations
This tip is not hardware specific.
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- Remote Supervisor Adapter II, Option part number 39Y9566
This tip is not Operating System specific.
The PC-Doctor and LSI WebBIOS utility is affected.
Workaround
Use the Remote Console Preferences dialog box provided in the RSA II remote control window to create the Tab, Space, and Enter keys:
The user should save these new keys to click on the key needed to navigate the screen and make selections.
Note: When a field, button, or device is selected, and the user clicks on the remote control window, the user can sometimes use the Enter Key or Space Bar. Whenever the user uses the Tab key, the action of the Tab key takes the user out of the graphical window onto the other areas of the ASM Remote Control window.
Additional information
The RSA II presents itself as a composite Human Interface Device with a mouse end point that uses absolute coordinates.
The affected applications are dependent on getting mouse movement changes from the BIOS interface.
The system BIOS USB drivers do not support absolute coordinates, therefore, the ability to use a mouse is not available.
