IBM Support

Most Descriptive statistics not pooled for multiply imputed data

Troubleshooting

Problem

I used the Descriptives procedure (Analyze->Descriptive Statistics->Descriptives) to provide descriptive statistics on a multiple imputation data set. As well as printing the results for the original sample and each imputation sample, the procedure printed pooled estimates for the variable mean and N (sample size). However, I expected pooled estimates to be provided for more of the statistics that are printed by the Descriptives procedure, such as the standard deviation and the minimum and maximum values. Is there a theoretical or computational reason why these additional statistics are not pooled? Otherwise, please provide pooled estimates for additional statistics from Descriptives in future releases of IBM SPSS Statistics.
