Modeler on Mac OS unable to connect to DB2 database instance. Connection to Datasource Failed.

Troubleshooting

Problem

We have installed Modeler Client for Mac OS and DB2 CLI ODBC V11.1.1.1 on Mojave and High Sierra.

This was done following the published Technote:

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/276849

The DB2 validate command completes successfully yet we are unable to make a database connect from SPSS Modeler to the DB2 server instance.

Symptom

Within the Modeler Client logging directory by default /Applications/IBM/SPSS/Modeler/18.2/SPSSModeler.app/Contents/log/server_logging.log

We see the locale is unable to be determined on the machine and defaulting.

We see the inability to find messaging resources:

We see failure to resolve the Diagnostic being returned by the ODBC driver due to a failed connection:
