Troubleshooting
Problem
Performing "query backup" command may result in missing specific files.
Symptom
Doing the query listed below, it may return only a subset of the actually backed up files (as found by doing a full restore of that directory):
query backup -inac -sub=yes /mypath/dir/
Performing a restore command with "-pick" it shows the missing files, or if performing a full restore of the entire directory it will restore all files.
For example, the following incorrect output may be obtained on an affected client:
boxtest ~ # dsmc q b -inac -subdir=yes "/export/danfs/danfs/sandisk/home/filesp1/file1/filed1/filed1_file1.doc"

It can be seen that the file "filed1_file1.doc" is not listed in "query backup" output but it is available in the restore command output (list number 8 and 9)
Cause
One of the possible causes that lead to these inconsistencies is the language on which the Operating System is running under.
In fact installing the Tivoli Storage Manager Client on an Operating System with a language NOT supported (see full list in the URL section) may show this kind of behavior.
Resolving The Problem
Set the option "numberformat" in dsm.opt file.
For example:
numberformat x
X can have any value between 1 and 6
In URL section there is the link for numberformat information
