Minimum Charges for Contract Sections and Lanes
You can set up minimum charges for your contract sectionsand lanes.
When Sterling TMS calculatesthe charges for a shipment it compares the following values and usesthe highest amount:
- The linehaul charge computed for the shipment if the contractlane uses a per-unit rating method (such as Full Route Distance).
- The minimum charge specified for the contract lane.
- The minimum charge specified for the contract section. This chargeis only used if you do not specify a minimum charge for the contractlane.
Sterling TMS usesthe following rules to implement minimum charges:
- Sterling TMS usesthe minimum charge you define for a contract section as the defaultvalue for the minimum charge for each rating lane in that section.
- If the contract lane uses a flat rate Sterling TMS always usesthis rate even it is less than the minimum charge specified for thecontract section.
- If you enter a minimum charge of $0.0 for a rating lane SterlingTMS uses the minimum charge you defined for the contract section thatcontains this lane. If you enter a minimum charge that is more than$0.0 Sterling TMS usesthis minimum charge even if the minimum charge for the contract sectionis higher.
