Question
I cannot seem to execute directly the command, "minicom gig" during replacement of management switch. The error message: "Device /dev/ttyS0 lock failed: Operation not permitted"
Cause
Serial Port (ttyS0) is not yet set/configured to be used by minicom
Answer
Here are the steps to rectify this:
# cd /nzlocal/scripts/rpc
# ./siominicom.sh
Serial port now ready to use by minicom.
After successfully invoking the script ("siominicom.sh"), "minicom gig" can now be invoked.
