Migration from Rational Robot to Functional Tester

Question & Answer

Question

Can you migrate your IBM Rational Robot GUI scripts automatically to IBM Rational Functional Tester?

Cause

You want to use Rational Functional Tester as your testing tool and want to re-use your Rational Robot scripts.

Rational Robot uses SQABasic, but Rational Functional Tester uses Java or .NET.

Answer

There is no migration path available from Rational Robot to Rational Functional Tester.

The reason is that Rational Robot uses SQABasic, which is a procedural language. Rational Functional Tester uses object -oriented languages, therefore automatic translation from SQABasic to either Java or .NET would be too unreliable.
