"Microsoft IE execute shell has stopped working ... ieexec.exe ... System.BadImageFormatException" when running Controller client on Windows 64bit

Troubleshooting


Problem

User launches Controller via the 'web client'. In other words, either: (1) User launches Controller directly via http://servername/ibmcognos/controllerbin/ccr.exe or (2) User launches Cognos Connection website (http://servername/cognos8). User then clicks "Consolidate my Financial Information" or clicks "Launch - Controller". User receives error message.

Symptom

The exact messages may vary slightly depending on the version of Internet Explorer that the client device has installed.
