Troubleshooting
Problem
When using Controller, the user generates a problem. By design, Controller logs its error messages inside the Windows Event Viewer (Application Log). For this process to work, it needs to create a registry key. However, the first time that it does this, if the end user is not an administrator it cannot create the registry key. The end user therefore sees a different (non-specific) error message.
Symptom
IBM Cognos 8 Controller
Application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission, contact your system administrator, or use the Microsoft .NET Framework Configuration tool.
If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.
Requested registry access is not allowed.
