Troubleshooting
Problem
After a concurrent code load (CCL) firmware upgrade, the message "A Quorum device is not detected", event ID 085154, appears in the event log once or twice. If the quorum devices are online, the message can be ignored.
Symptom
After a concurrent code load (CCL) firmware upgrade to any release, the message "A Quorum device is not detected"
, event ID 085154, appears in the Event Log. It might appear once or twice.
Cause
During the CCL upgrade, the Quorum device is temporarily disabled in order to be upgraded. In the IBM FlashSystem, both Quorum devices, which are contained in the battery modules are affected. It is normal for them to be temporarily disabled.
Environment
IBM FlashSystem models 840, 900, or V840 / A9000 / A9000R storage controller performing an upgrade ( CCL) to any release before 1.5.x.x.
Resolving The Problem
No action is needed. The messages can be ignored. In firmware release 1.1.2.2 and higher, this alert is "auto-fixed" when the battery module update is completed. This message is still visible in the log when the event log filter is set to view all messages, but the alert is marked as fixed.
There might be cases where the event is NOT auto-fixed. If so, examine the quorum status using the CLI command "lsquorum":
[09:12:09] sys56-2:~ # lsquorum
quorum_index status id name active object_type
3 online 2 qitc yes device
4 online 4 qitc no device
If both quorum devices are online, mark the Event Log messages as "fixed".
