Resolving The Problem

Problem: Message MCH2804 is received:
                                                System:   RCHASLV2
Message ID . . . . . . . . . :   MCH2804
Message file . . . . . . . . :   QCPFMSG
 Library  . . . . . . . . . :     QSYS

Message . . . . :   Tried to go larger than storage limit for object &1.

The causes for this problem include the following:
o The number of objects a profile owns
o The number of private authorities on the user profile
o Both of the previous causes combined
Chapter 7 of the Security Reference manual, Overall Recommendations, warns against having an IBM profile own all or most of the objects on the system. The same problem applies to any profile that owns a large number of objects.

Resolution: The solution is a workaround: create a new profile and move some of the objects over to the new profile. Have the user run the following command:

DSPUSRPRF TYPE(*OBJOWN) OUTPUT(*PRINT)

Suggest to the user to split users into smaller groups and remove the private authorities and then put the other groups into the supplemental groups parameter of the user profile.
