IBM Support

Message gets SWIFT NAK code T28010 when using IBM MERVA

Troubleshooting

Problem

When sending a message to the SWIFT test bed using IBM Message Entry and Routing with Interfaces to Various Applications (MERVA), SWIFT returns a negative acknowledgment (NAK) code of T28010.

Symptom

SWIFT rejects the message with a {405:T28010}

Cause

The T28 means "SWIFT BIC is not a valid destination". The test message contained a production Bank Identifier Code (BIC) which is not allowed by SWIFT when using their test bed. Only test BICs are allowed when sending test messages.

Resolving The Problem

Changed the production BIC to a test BIC within the message.
