Troubleshooting
Problem
This document explains how to handle message CPDBC10 during LODIMGCLG.
Resolving The Problem
When running the LODIMGCLG command, message CPDBC10 might be encountered:
Message . . . . : Error with virtual volume image.
Cause . . . . . : The image object specified for the virtual optical volume
is not a valid volume image or an error occurred when accessing the storage
for the image object. The virtual device used for the operation was
OPTVRTxx.
Recovery . . . : Load an image that is a valid optical volume image and
retry the operation.
Important Note: This error is received when there is an optical image in the catalog that is not valid. This error usually occurs when the PTF or installation text files (xxxxx.txt) are included in the actual image catalog.
Example
The information from the job log follows:
Request . . . . : -LODIMGCLG IMGCLG(IMAGE) DEV(OPTVRT01) OPT1410
OPT1410 Message . . : Volume 050719151915577 added to optical device.
CPCBC10 Message . . . . : Image catalog IMAGE loaded in device OPTVRT01.
Request . . . . : -wrkimgclge image
OPT1410 Message . . : Volume 050719151915577 added to optical device.
OPT1410 Message . . : Volume 050719151915577 added to optical device.
CPCBC20 Message . . . . : Image catalog IMAGE, type *PTF verified.
Notice the duplicate volume IDs and the fact that they are date and time stamps rather than catalog entry names. This is indicative of the data being received from another system without using binary mode. Other message IDs received are OPT1331, OPT1320, and CPDBC28.
After resending the data in binary, the images loaded correctly.
Resolution
Remove the invalid optical images from the image catalog and/or resend the data in binary mode.
